The History Department at St. Catherine University welcomes applications for a full-time faculty position with an emphasis on teaching.

The study of history at St. Catherine University is especially considerate of the history of women, people of color, and other marginalized groups because of institutional focus on social justice. We do not forget the traditional focus of history on those leaders with the most power, but we work to bring a fuller set of voices to the table, looking at not only the experiences of individuals who have traditionally held power, but also the stories of women, people of color, and other marginalized groups throughout the world. Our History Department offers faculty flexibility to teach courses in their area of expertise. The History department offers both a major and minor in history and a minor in Women’s History. Our faculty work collaboratively to support students who are passionate about social justice and plan to use their training to lead and influence. Our faculty also engage in interdisciplinary teaching. At this time our department enjoys expertise in East Asian history so our goal is to diversify our expertise.

      Expectations include:
      • Provide curriculum across various programs in the College for Women and the College for Adults and in the general education core.
      • Teach primarily within History and also within the Core Curriculum.
      • Enjoy academic freedom with respect to course content and delivery methods, although collaboration with other faculty members is expected for courses taught by multiple instructors.
      • Independently advises students
      • Collaborate with colleagues to drive the development of course content and student assessments that reflect best practice in equity-based learning and accreditation objectives.
      • Engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, school, campus, community and professional organizations.
