Position Details:
The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University invites applications for a permanent, full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Pullman, WA. We’re looking for candidates with strengths within criminal justice and criminology including, but not limited to areas such as: policing, victimization, corrections, environmental criminology, as well as other related fields. While areas of specialization are open, we are looking for individuals with an interest and expertise in teaching quantitative methods. All applicants should clearly describe their area(s) of research and teaching interest.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2024.
Summary of Duties:
The successful applicant is expected to conduct research and teach in the areas of criminal justice and criminology and to perform service to the department, discipline, and university. In terms of teaching, the successful applicant is expected to teach introductory, upper-division and graduate level courses within the Criminal Justice and Criminology curriculum on the Pullman campus. They may also teach online undergraduate classes. The teaching load is two courses per semester (2/2), representing 40% of the position, substantial research and publication representing 40% of the position, with an additional 20% devoted to service.

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
