- Degree (1 or 2.1) in psychology Eligibility for Graduate membership of the BPS

- Able to grasp the complexities of the range of statutory and voluntary agencies involved in providing services for children and families
- Relevant experience, e.g. conducting audit, evaluation projects, contribution to research programmes

- Experience or understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions

- Able to plan, organise and prioritise own workload.
- Well developed skills and ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing complex, highly technical and or sensitive information for dissemination both within and outside the NHS
- Organisation of meetings, minute taking and communicating with professionals.
- Able to record and report on clinical and service information as required
- Good research and statistical skills, including ability to access and search evidence based resources
- Able to be flexible and adapt approach according to need.
- Competent use of other IT packages e.g. PowerPoint, Access.
- Competent in use of Word, Excel and SPSS
- Able to work independently and to seek support as appropriate
- Able to use supervision well to improve output
- Able to contain and work with organisational stress and able to hold the stress of others.
- Able to sit in constrained positions for a substantial proportion of working time.
- Able to concentrate intensely for a substantial proportion of working time, during client contact, teaching sessions, team meetings, preparing written work etc.
- Able to manage effectively frequent exposure to highly distressing/highly emotional circumstances and exposure to traumatic circumstances.
- Respectful approach to service users, families, carers, colleagues and other professionals. Willing to negotiate and can handle confrontation effectively and professionally.
- Able to work to professional guidelines.

Job summary
We are seeking two motivated Assistant Psychologists to join our Newham Emotional and Behavioral (E&B) team working in Front Door Team (FDT) and Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT). One post holder will support the clinical work of the FDT by supporting the processing of new referrals, liaising with referrers, assisting with consultations and contributing to the screening pathway for ADHD and Autism.
The other post holder will support clinicians to provide a specialist service within CAMHS to neurodivergent children, young people and their families. This is a community-based post offering evidence-based episodes of care, via assessments, formulation and group/individual interventions.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will also be offered opportunities to learn and consolidate clinical skills in a range of modalities and through quality clinical supervision, weekly with a clinical psychologist. There will also be opportunities to co-run workshops and groups within the service. There will also be the opportunity to shadow and/or complete psychometric testing under supervision and work closely with FDT/ NDT Clinical Leads to support audits and data management.
The post holders will directly contribute to the positive working environment within the multi-disciplinary team and some specialist pathway work as required. This position will offer valuable experience for those aspiring to pursue a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with opportunities for professional development and supervision.
