Our new Assistant Psychologist will be an integral part of the mental health team within the prison.

As the Assistant Psychologist you will support and enhance the psychological care of prisoners covered by Practice Plus Group Mental Health Team; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.Main duties of the job
As a University graduate in Psychology you will be able to communicate at all levels working unsupervised while following policy and procedures. You will have experience of working with mentally disordered offenders, prisoners or psychiatric patients and have training in the theory and application of at least one therapeutic model. Your experience of running patient therapeutic groups, psychological interventions and therapies will help you to provide the best possible care to our patients.

Youll receive an annual salary of up to 30,660 per annum - dependent on experience.
About us
HMP Gartree is a Category B mens prison located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. It houses 640 men and is a 10-minute drive from the town centre.
Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Leicester and will begin delivering services in March 2024. We are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a persons care.
