WSP Oman is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to support the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing on-site construction activities for the Sohar Port Project. The ARE will help ensure that works are executed in accordance with the project specifications, approved drawings, and relevant safety and quality standards. ""

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
      • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in site supervision, preferably on port, marine, or infrastructure projects.
      • Familiarity with construction standards, specifications, and best practices in civil and marine engineering.
      • Good technical and analytical skills with a focus on quality and safety.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
      • Strong communication and coordination skills.
      • Experience working in Oman or the GCC is an advantage.
      • Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus.

      Responsibilities

      • Assist the Resident Engineer in overseeing the daily construction activities on-site.
      • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and project standards.
      • Coordinate with site inspectors to ensure regular inspections are carried out and documented.
      • Review and comment on contractor submissions such as method statements, shop drawings, and material approvals.
      • Support progress monitoring, schedule adherence, and quality assurance measures.
      • Attend site coordination meetings and prepare minutes of meetings and site reports as required.
      • Help identify and resolve technical and construction issues in coordination with the Resident Engineer.
      • Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
      • Maintain project documentation, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and correspondence logs.
      • Liaise with the contractor, client representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth progress of the project.
