What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct audits of various governmental entities, including cities, counties, and public utility districts
- Collaborate with team members to produce high-quality audit reports and recommendations
- Participate in client discussions and presentations under supervisor guidance
- Engage in on-the-job training and skill development as part of the in-training program
- Perform special investigations related to citizen concerns and potential frauds
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three college-level accounting courses, or equivalent experience
- At least one year of experience in accounting or auditing for Assistant State Auditor 1
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience for Assistant State Auditor 2, with government audit experience preferred
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience for Assistant State Auditor 3, with government audit experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with time/project management abilities
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working within a billable hours framework or under tight budget constraints
- Familiarity with federal regulations, state laws, accounting standards, and agency policies
- Previous experience in government auditing is preferred
