      The Campus and Collegiate Life Services Division leads a world class residential college system at the University of Otago. As a collegiate university, our Residential Colleges, and UniFlats, are dedicated to providing a supportive home environment to our residents, many of whom are living away from family/whānau for the first time.

      As Assistant Warden of University Flats (Uni Flats), you will join a team looking after the largest and most diverse collegiate community on Campus.

      Working in a supportive and dynamic environment, you will have the opportunity to make a real and positive impact on the lives of University of Otago residents.

      The role/Te mahi

      We are currently seeking an enthusiastic person to join our leadership team in the key role of Assistant Warden, UniFlats.

      With a focus on resident wellbeing, our Assistant Wardens provide opportunities for residents to experience cultural, sporting, academic and personal development in a positive collegiate environment.

      Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

      We are looking for a leader who is passionate, resilient, and capable of handling (sometimes) challenging and complex situations.

      Our ideal candidate will have:
      • Experience working with young adults from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds in a leadership capacity.
      • A demonstrated ability to work effectively in emergency or crisis situations.
      • Experience in engaging groups and individuals.
      • Experience in planning and managing a variety of safe and fun events and activities.
      • Excellent communication skills.
      • An ability to achieve a range of tasks under competing demands, within agreed timeframes.
      • A high level of organisational skills.
      • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

      Experience in the tertiary sector would be a distinct advantage.

      This exciting role would suit a highly motivated person who excels in providing pastoral care and support to students from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. If you are a strong communicator who is creative and collaborative, and if you are passionate about education and working with young adults then this role might be the perfect match for you.

      The is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) “live-out” (accommodation is not provided) position.

      Due to the nature of the role, required hours of work are rostered across evenings and weekends.

      You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.
