- Directs Water Division staff as delegated by the Water Superintendent
- Confers with the Water Superintendent to review, discuss and plan day-to-day operations to optimize personnel and material utilization
- Supervision of staff, including but not limited to preparing work schedules, making and overseeing job assignments, conducting staff performance evaluations, preparing time sheets, development and implementation of safety and training programs
- Participate in hiring processes, promotion, discipline, grievances, and other related personnel actions as assigned.
- Responds to call-outs in times of emergency.
- Dependability in this position is vital.
- Working hours vary. Generally, working hours are from either approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Special events and operational needs will require flexible scheduling to work before or after the normal working hours and on weekends.
- Applicants must be able to work in an outdoor environment, in various weather conditions including severe weather and in possible hazardous traffic conditions.

Assists the Water Superintendent in the operation, maintenance and management of the water treatment plant, the water distribution system and all related personnel.
Supervise, plan and coordinate the activities of the water distribution and treatment plant staff within the Water Division as assigned; coordinate division activities with other Public Works divisions and City departments, outside agencies and the general public; and provide highly complex technical and staff assistance to the Water Superintendent.
The Assistant Water Superintendent shall function with a high degree of independence and utilize sound professional judgment, demonstrate planning and organizational skills, and establish priorities, programs and acceptable performance levels for his/her functional area. The Assistant Water Superintendent shall be committed to the mission, vision and values of the City and demonstrate such through ethical conduct, community stewardship, individual initiative and responsive service. The Assistant Water Superintendent shall demonstrate leadership, management and technical skills through effective communication and collaboration, proper use of team resources, progressive decision-making, personal accountability and responsibility.

General Duties
Assists the Superintendent in the following duties:
o Coordinate operation and maintenance activities related to raw water supply, water treatment, distribution, metering, and backflow prevention
o Develop and standardize maintenance and operating procedures and methods
o Keep Division records and formulate reports for submittal to local, state and federal regulatory agencies
o Review architectural and engineering plans for improvements to the Water Treatment Plant, the Water Distribution System, and the Water Distribution facilities
o Assist in the coordination of the construction of improvements to the Water Treatment Plant, the Water Distribution System, and the Water Distribution facilities
o Oversee maintenance of Water Division grounds, facilities and equipment
o Respond to inquiries from the public, developers, contractors, the City Administration and other agencies; investigate complaints as assigned.
o Purchasing, inventory and budgeting
o Help prepare and deliver presentations to City Council, the Public Utilities Commission, press releases, etc.
o Emergency response
o Attend seminars and workshops related to field to obtain information on new laws and current trends in public water supply
o Perform other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Unusual or Special Working Conditions
The position requires an OEPA Class III Water Operators Certification. A valid state of Ohio Class B Commercial Driver’s License including tanker endorsement and air brakes is preferred.About the company
