We have a new opportunity for an Assistant Winemaker to join our Winemaking Team at our Flagstone Winery in Somerset West.
This is a full-time, permanent role.Key responsibilities include:
Reporting to the Head Winemaker & Production Manager, this position will coordinate and review all cellar operations (sanitation, safety, fermentation, aging, blending, barrel maintenance, bottling, etc.) with acute attention to detail for luxury wines. This position is responsible for maintaining wine quality, day to day operations of the cellar and barrel rooms, and workorder records for all wine movements and treatments.
Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinating all cellar activities with Head Winemaker.
• Managing the cellar team and ensuring protocols are executed to a high standard.
• Always maintaining superior wine quality.
• Management and participation in cellar workflow from harvest to bottling.
• Preparing wines for bottling with QA/QC guidelines
• Assists in developing cellar SOP’s and training cellar staff.What you'll bring:
• Strong and relevant experience gained working in the wine industry.
• Appropriate wine-making qualifications (diploma or degree level).
• Strong computer skills, preferably with prior experience working with Wine .MS and JD Edwards.
• Food safety training is beneficial.
• Health and Safety Training beneficial.
