- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized, small group instruction, and student learning
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning
- Modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs; including students with special needs
- Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed
- Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the Cabot School District
- Create an environment within the wrestling program where individual athletes work as a team to promote positive influences, to embrace empathy, to grow confidence, and to practice good sportsmanship
- Coordinate off-season and in-season practices
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws
- Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
- Responsible for overall team management, to include but not limited to: tournament entries, coordination of team travel, and scheduling
- Develop and implement team and individual goals with the wresters and monitor the progression of the athletes and team in reaching these goals
- Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
- Coordinate with other staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintain inventory records
- Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation
- Serve as a strong advocate for the sport of wrestling
- Assist in planning and conducting daily practices and workouts.
- Help teach proper techniques, conditioning, rules, and strategies of wrestling.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to student-athletes on and off the mat.
- Assist with organizing and managing wrestling meets, tournaments, and travel logistics.
- Monitor academic performance and encourage academic achievement among team members.
- Enforce discipline and uphold team rules, school policies, and athletic regulations.
- Assist with injury prevention and coordinate with athletic trainers as needed.
- Promote team culture, positive attitude, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.
- Support athlete recruitment and participation at the high school level.
- Maintain inventory and care of wrestling equipment and uniforms.
- Attend staff meetings, clinics, and professional development as required.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs
- Adhere to all policies of the District and the Arkansas Code of Ethics for Arkansas Educators
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles
- Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts
- Knowledge of data analysis and information
- Ability to effectively coach wrestlers with varying abilities
- Demonstrate successful operations and match/tournament management
- Promote a strong commitment to community outreach, reinforced with exceptional verbal communication skills

- Ability to organize and coordinate work

- Possibly coach a second sport
- Background in coaching, preferably wrestling coach experience
- Provide evidence of proficiency with wrestling team related managerial, administrative and logistical duties
- Teachers shall be able to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers and other technology as used in the delivery of instruction
- Coaching certification (varies by state; e.g., NFHS, CPR/First Aid, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and training methods.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to positively motivate student-athletes and support program goals.
- Must pass a background check and meet all district and state coaching requirements.
- All teachers must have a valid, Arkansas teaching license for the grade level/subject area assigned, or be willing to meet the licensure requirements outlined by the Arkansas Department of Education
- Seasonal position; evening and weekend availability required.
- Indoor and gym environments with physical demands such as standing, demonstrating techniques, and lifting equipment.
- Exposure to typical athletic risks and hazards.
- Must have a 7-12 core content subject area or a special education endorsement on teaching certificate

The Assistant Wrestling Coach supports the Head Wrestling Coach in managing all aspects of the high school wrestling program. This includes assisting with planning practices, training athletes, supervising events, promoting sportsmanship, and ensuring the physical and mental development of student-athletes in a safe, competitive environment.
Provides instruction and facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementation of the district's approved curriculum, in order to meet the educational needs of students by creating a safe and optimal learning environment. Instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to character development, self-discipline and self-confidence.
