What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
- Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial
- Defend assigned matters by trial or dispositive hearing
- Document files in a clear, concise, professional manner for various stakeholders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 2-6+ years of related field litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury
- Juris Doctor degree REQUIRED
- Admission to the Texas Bar REQUIRED
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas and fulfill Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements
- Ability to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, and meetings
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Civil litigation experience
- Insurance defense-related litigation experience
- Strong professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and in written correspondence
