The Center for Human Resource Research (CHRR) at The Ohio State University, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks Associate Database Administrator to join our team. The Associate Database Administrator assists with administration of 30+ Oracle databases and Cloudera (Impala/Hive) environments. The position performs installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and support of database management system (DBMS) software to ensure stability, reliability, recoverability, and acceptable performance. Works with the Database team to ensure daily Oracle database operations run smoothly and ensure tuning, maintenance, backup, recovery tasks are executed promptly.
The Associate Database Administrator manages datasets and writes and maintains custom SQL and PL/SQL blocks to perform various data-related tasks, including Exchange, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes. The position also works directly with the team to assist CHRR users with database-related tasks, including creating custom reports and running database jobs.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Required Qualifications
Experience working with databases and a strong foundation of DBMS knowledge and expertise. Advanced knowledge of SQL. Communicates effectively, permitting information exchange with technical and non-technical colleagues, and can multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Desired Qualifications
Prior relevant experience working with DBMS, including loading, creating, and updating data and various database objects, and a strong background in SQL. Experience working within a Linux environment. Experience with ETL processes. Experience automating data jobs, reports, and database procedures. Experience using RDBMS management tools (e.g., Toad, SQL Developer, OEM). Experience using or supporting statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata, R) in research environments; experience with Apache Hive and/or Impala in Cloudera environment.
Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $24.52 - $32.31. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
