      Job Summary

      The Associate Director, of Undergraduate Career Services, works as part of the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business Career Services (BCS) Team, in strong collaboration with Advising and Alumni Relations, to support and assist in managing and promoting career readiness programming and events, specifically, the CareerBound program. In conjunction with the Director of Undergraduate Student Engagement & CareerBound, the Associate Director will assist in the long-range planning, design, and implementation of CareerBound. Understands all aspects of CareerBound; suggests changes or improvements as appropriate in conjunction with advising and alumni relations. Contributes to the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of the CareerBound programs and the services aligned with them.
      The Associate Director effectively communicates the mission and vision of CareerBound to internal and external stakeholders. Participates in strategic planning to develop strategies to serve student populations, delivers information in ways that resonate with today's students, and infuses career readiness and NACE career competencies into the Krannert culture. This role also leverages the online platforms utilized by the CareerBound program to connect with students and collect data.

      About Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business: The Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business aspires to take a top 25 program and transform it into a top 10 program that competes for the best students in the country. The key components of this transformation are:

      • Career Bound and the Larsen Leader’s Academy. Programs that sharply improve students’ professional competencies by providing enhanced coaching and mentoring alongside an integrated curricular/co-curricular approach to professional development.
      • Curriculum Innovation. A systematic process for: creating new degree programs that leverage the unique strengths of Purdue and the School of Management; engaging in continuous quality improvement via external program reviews for existing programs; and strengthening the integrated management core.
      • Integrated Learning Ecosystem. Programs that enhance learning outcomes by: improving faculty course design and classroom presence; expanding alumni- and executive-in-residence programs; developing peer mentoring and tutoring networks; adopting advanced learning technologies; and building out core tools digital libraries.
      • Transformational Experiences. Growing undergraduate research, study abroad, and case competitions while significantly expanding experiential learning via internal programs and corporate engagement.

      Required:

      • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field
      • Minimum of 6 years experience in career counseling, academic advising, internal communications, business administration, or related field
      • Knowledge of career development, and learning styles
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      • Demonstrated verbal and written skills in communicating complex information to both internal and external audiences
      • Ability to think critically and creatively, as well as to imagine possibilities for solutions that do not currently exist or are not apparent
      • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
      • Ability to effectively lead, mentor, manage conflict, and guide staff to enhance performance
      • Demonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, employers, and alumni
      • Experience and proficiency in incorporating the use of technology to deliver career services

      Preferred:

      • Master’s degree
      • Familiarity with the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) career competencies
