      Global Tax Strategy and Partnering

      The Global Tax Strategy and Partnering (GTSP) team is a solely advisory team, responsible for the development and execution of tax strategy and business partnering. It comprises individuals in the UK, Sweden the US and Ireland. GTSP, together with the Global Tax Operations team, the Transfer Pricing Team and the Indirect Tax team make up AstraZeneca’s Group Tax team of c100 individuals. It is part of the wider Finance organisation within AstraZeneca and centred around our Global Headquarters.

      Responsibilities:

      As the Associate Director – GTSP, you will report to the UK Director for GTSP and be a key part of the GTSP team. Specifically, you will:

      • Provide effective tax support on structuring and planning projects, undertaking detailed technical analysis as necessary.

      • Work with the business to identify and manage tax risks and identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiencies.

      • Provide strategic guidance regarding issues including, but not limited to; global licensing deals and collaborations, corporate M&A, post deal integration, supply chains, R&D, human capital, procurement and outsourcing.

      • Serve as a technical resource for the broader team, preparing technical memoranda as required.

      This role would ideally suit an experienced Senior Manager, or Director, in a big four firm looking to apply their skills in-house for the first time, or an experienced in-house professional from a very large MNE, with experience of large M&A and structuring projects. An enthusiasm and ability to engage in complex UK tax technical work is a must.

      Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

      Essential for the role:

      • You will be a chartered accountant and / or chartered tax advisor with significant experience obtained in providing tax advice to very large MNEs obtained in a Big Four environment and/or an MNE substantially equivalent to AstraZeneca

      • You will have strong technical capability with a detailed knowledge of UK and International Tax

      • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to succinctly and clearly communicate complex matters

      • You will also have the ability to manage numerous complex projects and progress actions in a co-ordinated and organised manner

      Desirable for the role:

      • Detailed experience of transfer pricing preferable but not essential
