- Bachelor's degree and 7 years experience in non-profit fundraising. Candidates with experience in non-profit fundraising sectors other than conservation are invited to apply.
- Demonstrated experience in generating and stewarding a pipeline of new donors.
- Experience in fundraising strategy development focusing on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major and principal gift level donors (donors able to give USD $1M-$5M+)
- Experience in building donor specific strategies focused on High Net Worth Individuals and private foundations
- Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with constituents such as major donors and corporations.
- Experience in asking for and closing seven figure gifts.
- Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
- Experience working with fundraising principles and practices.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, and major gifts.
- Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages
- Ability to design and implement fundraising strategies, including cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies.
- Ability to determine an individual's interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy's work.
- Ability to educate and inform prospective and existing donors about appropriate giving vehicles.
- Advanced knowledge of complex charitable gift planning.
- Demonstrated experience using listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong relationships and motivate donors and volunteers.
- Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements.
- Ability to travel including internationally when necessary.
- Ability to work proactively and independently while seamlessly communicating with a team of professions across multiple time zones.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally charged information.

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHERThe Associate Director of Development, New York Global Markets (ADOD) understands and applies complex principles of developing donor strategies and builds strong relationships with a portfolio of new and current donors and prospects. The ADOD's portfolio will comprise ultra-high net worth prospects. Fundraising activities will focus on this donor segment by more deeply engaging existing donors and cultivating new prospects, all with the capacity to give principal gifts of $5M+. The ADOD will be responsible for direct asks for TNC's highest global priorities to meet TNC's funding needs and our work to achieve our ambitious 2030 Goals. They will discuss complex gifts proficiently and cultivate funding opportunities focused on gifts of non-cash assets, including securities and real estate, as well as planned gifts. They will incorporate blended gifts and gifts of assets in proposals to donors. They will be comfortable discussing the priorities of the Conservancy. They will understand organizational budgets and be proficient in utilizing this knowledge to build proposal budgets with relevant finance leads. They will have experience raising gifts from family and independent foundations, family offices, donor advised funds, independent foundations, and other charitable giving entities. They will work across chapters and programs. The ADOD will staff TNC's executive and conservation leadership as a fundraising partner and manager of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that programmatic leads and volunteer leaders will advance. They will manage assigned trustee relationships and/or volunteer engagement. They will be required to use the Conservancy's donor database.

The ideal candidate should have exceptional communication and collaboration skills and experience with fundraising practices. He/she will have generated donor strategies that led to solicitations for gifts of $1M+. This person will love being out of the office in donor meetings, jumping headlong into discovery activities, and building new constituencies in partnership with the Conservancy's senior conservation and fundraising leadership. This is a senior fundraising position, perfect for bold, strategic out-the-door fundraisers who seek to support global efforts at one of the world's largest and most impactful conservation organizations.

SALARY INFORMATIONThe starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $145,300 - $160,700 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
