The mission is accomplished using a culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community-based approach that identifies and links the youth and families with social supports; fosters caring relationships; develops high expectations; and provides meaningful participation in youth-centered, community-based activities.

      Position Overview:

      The Associate Director of Jobs oversees a team of full- and part-time staff mentors who provide young people supported employment at social enterprises and workshops for career, college and readiness.

      Responsibilities:

      The Associate Director of Jobs will collaborate with other leaders and community partners to achieve two primary goals: high quality, high impact workforce development programs and job opportunities for young people (ages 8-24) in Baltimore City and to reduce the number of Black and Latinx young people in the youth legal system throughout the region.

      Under general direction of the Senior Associate Director, the Associate Director of Jobs plans, directs, manages and oversees the operations of The Choice Jobs Program, including three social enterprise locations in Baltimore City. The incumbent coordinates assigned activities both internally with members of leadership teams to ensure continuity of programming with youth, as well as externally with community-based and institutional partners.

      Specific duties include:

      • Supervising Assistant Directors to provide culturally-relevant, age-appropriate college, career, and civic readiness programs
      • Leading teams responsible for the operations of three social enterprises in Baltimore City: café at University of Baltimore School of Law, kiosk in Inner Harbor and stand at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and for the coordination of Choice's College Night program in collaboration with universities throughout central Maryland
      • Collaborating with Choice leaders to support recruitment, hiring, training and staff retention, encouraging professional development
      • Developing and maintaining partnerships with employers, service providers, government agencies, and funders, representing Choice on committees and boards
      • Ensuring the long-term sustainability of Choice Jobs in collaboration with Choice's IT Manager through storytelling and quantitative and qualitative data analysis
      • Assessing best practices for positive youth development in all aspects of case management, job experiences, and training workshops
      • Providing backup support services for staff periodically

      This is a senior-level management position responsible for complex decision-making involving the oversight and direction of The Choice Program's job training program, including three social enterprise locations. The incumbent is a member of two leadership teams within the organization.

      Required Minimum Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's Degree
      • Three years (five preferred) of direct practice with youth in need of supportive services
      • Two years supervisory/administrative experience
      • Valid driver's license
      • Personal transportation

      Note: A Master's Degree or 15 graduate level credits in an accredited graduate program may be substituted for one year of required experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience operating a business or experience working in food service
      • Experience working or volunteering for an organization, institution or company with a commitment to anti-racism, equity and inclusion
