- 10+ years of experience managing projects, of which 5 years in portfolio- and/or program management
- 5 years in leadership role in a strategic, cross-functional environment
- Proven high degree of executive presence
- Cross-functional role in the biotech or pharma drug industry
- Management of change in a growth-oriented work environment
- Leading and influencing teams without direct managerial authority
- Having set up a PMO organization with associated portfolio management, with all it’s associated procedures, processes and training
- Having worked in GxP environment for several years
- In-depth understanding of project management tools, lifecycles, processes, standards and techniques (e.g., PMI, Prince2, IPMA, or equivalent)
- Proven skills in project and program management, facilitation and change management plus project portfolio management
- High degree of executive presence with ability to connect, influence and deliver at executive level
- Able to prioritize and balance work across multiple objectives simultaneously, for self and team
- Demonstrated ability to navigate across organizational structures and constructively interface with and influence others
- Results oriented with drive to move work forward
- Able to build a high performing team, and motivate and develop individual team members in support of overall team performance
- Ability to effectively manage conflicts and negotiations
- Strong track record of delivering results through effective team and peer leadership

- Serve as the leader of the site project governance structure, and work closely with site leadership team and the global PPM organization to obtain insight in the site’s project/program portfolio
- Identify and manage KPI reporting for performance of the site project portfolio and the PMO team.
- Own effective site portfolio governance, collect progress data and provide reports to management on the status of the site project portfolio from business case to project closure.
- Maintain effective oversight of the interdependencies between all key projects and programs of the prioritized site portfolio
- Work with project sponsors to develop the business case for additional resources as needed, and assign the PM capacity in effective way to the projects/programs most in need
- Program management of 1 or more of the most complex and strategic programs in the site portfolio
- Lead a team of project managers, including management of their performance and development process.
- Ensure clear team member roles and responsibilities.
- Promote team cohesiveness and mediate conflict resolution to optimize performance.
- Work with the PMO team to create annual, tactical PMO goals and cascade into individual goals.
- Work with project managers and project teams to identify roadblocks, identify solutions, and escalate for resolution.
- Establish and communicate a PMO vision to the broader organization.
- Own project/program/portfolio management methodology, standards, and all associated processes and training for the site, and drive their continuous improvement to continuously mature the project/program/portfolio capability for the overall site.
- Lead trainer of the site’s project management trainings like PM foundation and awareness (plus sponsor training)
- Partner with relevant functions (including leadership team and global PPM organization) to develop effective working relationships

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Associate Director PMO Lead Leiden will be responsible for leading a team of project managers that ensure execution of the prioritized strategic and operational projects and programs that are required to achieve the goals for the site.
This role will own project/program/portfolio management methodology, standards, and all associated processes and training for the site, and drive their continuous improvement to continuously mature the project/program/portfolio capability for the overall site.
The role will work closely with the site leadership team to prioritize and execute the site’s project portfolio, and to set up and own the associated governance to keep oversight and drive execution.
The role is next to strategic, also tactical since the Associate Director PMO Lead Leiden will be responsible for program management of 1 or more of the most complex and strategic programs in the site portfolio.
Finally, the role will be positioned as a key linking pin with the other global PMO teams in the company to execute the global processes locally and to ensure the local portfolio is linked to the global one.
