      Associate Director - Technical Accounting, Ongoing opportunity, based in Sydney CBD (McKell) + hybrid/flexible working option.

      • Clerk Grade 11/12 salary starting from $139,787 base +11% super, commensurate with experience.

      About the role

      The Associate Director in Technical Accounting provides technical advice to all various agencies on the applicability of the relevant accounting standards, Treasury guidelines & mandates, Government Sector Act 2018 & other legislations (where applicable) and audit requirements (where applicable) on complex transactions or arrangements undertaken. The nature of the advice is expected to include alignment with common industry practice within the State and other states/commonwealth government, where necessary.

      This role involves high fluidity to form various adhoc teams to manage and provide an accurate assessment in each circumstance. This role requires you to support the Chief Financial Officer in making decisions based on the financial implications of the complex transactions.

      This role is responsible for updating and issuing all finance policies for all DCS agencies.

      About you

      • You have to be a fully qualified CA/CPA candidate with a knack for being very flexible and managing individuals to collaborate and verify to ensure that accurate information is obtained to analyse complex transactions. This involves a self-motivated individual with initiative to act with a drive for curiosity to get the complete picture.
      • You will have acute attention to detail to spot irregularities in the information presented in order to be highly effective in delivering an accurate picture to management
      • You will also have a high adaptability in your presentation skills to deliver your findings to the various levels of management and committees.
      • It is essential that you have the technical knowledge of the relevant accounting standards (currently Australian Accounting Standards Board) and demonstrate your experience in its application.
      • You will be expected to have good judgement to arrive at a sound conclusion and demonstrate your ability to provide effective decision making.
