until filled Coordinates school-wide attendance efforts and truancy reduction programming with a two-fold focus 1) educating families on the importance of attendance with a focus on prevention and 2) intervening to fix the underlying issues that lead to absenteeism
Communicates via Nucleus, e-mail, phone, etc. to families in need of attendance assistance
Ensures state compliance guidelines are met for student attendance, progress, and system logins
Ensure school policy and state requirements are met regarding all truancy withdrawals
Produces individual student attendance/truancy reports for the school, county, and state upon request
Works with staff to assist students in situations where referrals to service agencies are necessary
Works with families and community support staff to prevent/deter juvenile delinquency
Supports families with documentation of excused absences
Works with all stakeholders to support student attendance
Cross functional duties as assigned
Other duties as assigned

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) Certificate AND
Two (2) years of truancy experience AND
Two (2) years’ experience gathering and providing data and/or scheduling OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
desired Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field of study
desired GA PSC Teaching/Educational Certificate
Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required.
Knowledge of state and federal laws, and other pertinent laws regarding K-12 Education as they relate to applicable duties
Knowledge of specific procedures regarding school truancy
Familiarity with online learning environment
Excellent customer service skills
Experience working with diverse student populations
Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G-Suite.
Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to deadlines
Strong critical thinking, planning, and writing skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate and communicate effectively within a team
Ability to manage multiple projects within established deadlines
Dependable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Excellent organization skills, including ability to incorporate methods and build systems that can be used across the district
Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Maintain a professional home office without distraction during 8-4 workday when working from home
Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet
Valid driver’s license and availability of private transportation
Ability to travel 10% of the time as required
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field of study
Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, enrollment, or truancy a plus
Three (3) years of management experience
Prior educational experience in the form of Teaching, Counseling, Advising, Intervention, Social Work, or related fields
GA PSC Teaching/Educational Certificate
TKES/LKES credentialed
Previous experience as a Learning Coach, Advisor, or Teacher at Georgia Cyber Academy
Proven leadership and/or management experience
Previous experience as an online educator
Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments
Knowledge of the SCSC Comprehensive Performance Framework
Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI
Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS)
Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS)
Working knowledge of Jigsaw Interactive (live classroom tool)
Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool
Bi-lingual
This is primarily a Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, 5 days/week, home-based position that may require traveling up to 10% of the time.
During critical periods, in-office days may be required. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.
Light lifting required.

SUMMARY: The Attendance Specialist ensures that school age children are attending school by investigating causes of unexcused or excessive absences, communicating with families, and assisting them in problem-solving attendance issues. They provide attendance interventions as necessary including communicating with families regarding excused and unexcused absences.
