      JOB SUMMARY

Do you have a passion for auditing? Do you have an interest in Compliance and want to learn more? If so, we have an opportunity for you! The AGLC is looking for a driven and dynamic auditor to join the Compliance team. We have two, permanent full-time positions available at the St. Albert office and eligible for a hybrid working arrangement.

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Audit, this role is responsible for conducting complex audits to ensure AGLC licenced entities are in compliance with the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulations, the Charitable Gaming Policies Handbook, board directives and AGLC Terms & Conditions and Operating Guidelines. The audits are performed with the objective of protecting the integrity of Alberta’s charitable gaming model and to ensure gaming funds are properly accounted for and used for eligible purposes. The charitable gaming audits will include verifying gaming funds are received, vouching that gaming expenditures exist and were spent on eligible purposes, interpreting legislation and policies, summarizing findings in a report and making recommendations from the findings. Since legalization of cannabis and changes to the small manufacturer markup program, compliance audit will also be performing audits over cannabis retailers and liquor manufacturers.

This position requires a high degree of professionalism, expertise and analytical decision making skills, as well as the ability to resolve conflictual situations, exercise discretion, demonstrate good judgment, and maintain confidentiality. To be successful in this role, you must be comfortable assessing business plans, analyzing financial statements, performing ratio analysis and risk assessments. Candidates require a thorough knowledge of the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act and the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation, and the Charitable Gaming Policies Handbook. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) as well as interpersonal skills are necessary for this position.
