What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Ensure accuracy of insurance information and obtain prior authorization for non-oncology and oncology infusions
- Monitor patient referrals and denials to determine necessary pre-registration, verification, and authorization
- Evaluate physician orders for medical necessity and communicate with providers for order revisions
- Review clinical documentation to support authorization and precertification according to payer guidelines
- Document pertinent information and efforts in the computer system based on department standards
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of benefits verification or authorization experience, or 3 years of pre-registration experience
- Basic healthcare knowledge and understanding of insurance terminology
- Proven keyboard skills with the ability to type 75 WPM
- Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience navigating insurance websites to access patient eligibility and payment information
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
- Familiarity with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and diagnosis coding
