      Job summary

      Are you an experienced Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist. Are you looking to take that next step into looking for a new challenge whilst continuing to develop your leadership skills and clinical experience , then this 12 month Fixed/Secondment is for you!

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist within newly established Elmdon Unit. Elmdon Unit is a 40 bedded unit Community Intermediate care unit, which opened in October 2024 and is an integral part of Solihull Community Services although located within Solihull Hospital. You will be working in partnership with an existing Unit manager to lead and manage the unit across the 24 hour period/365 days/year. You will also be working closely with a Multi disciplinary team, driving a holistic approach to care supporting patients to return home wherever possible or where their needs can be best met. The MDT includes Primary Care, Registered Nurses, Healthcare assistants, Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Pharmacist, Social workers and Consultant Geriatrician.

      Main duties of the job

      You will need good clinical skills, a flexible approach, including excellent team working, organisational and time management skills. Evidence of prior leadership is essential for this role.

      The role will be to provide a 24-hour responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of Elmdon unit, including budget control, clinical governance staff development and training. You will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards of professional practise and standards of care. You will provide professional clinical leadership and provide direction and inspirational leadership to all members within the multi-disciplinary team.

      You will undertake and supervise clinical practice, audit, research and teaching to set, monitor and continuously improve standards of care and patient experience. The post holder is accountable for safe, effective clinical practice managing and developing team performance, managing a devolved budget ensuring efficient and effective use of physical and human resources.
