      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced cancer nurse who is an innovative clinical leader with significant experience in SACT nursing to join our team as Lead SACT Nurse.

      The post holder will lead the SACT nurse service within the Trust ensuring teams provide an excellent service through evidence-based practice, education, policy and guideline development.

      It is a great opportunity for a dynamic and committed clinical leader who is driven by challenges and demonstrates personal resilience in a fast moving and challenging care environment.

      You will be a forward thinker, passionate about cancer patients and their experience whilst drawing on clinical expertise to role model good care to the patient receiving SACT. You will have experience leading and managing teams and promoting strong visible leadership as well as confidence influencing teams across the trust.

      The post holder must be equipped with the skillset to lead and navigate teams through the financial climate and project managing new ways of working to improve outcomes for our patients.

      The successful candidate will have experience in the running of nurse led pre SACT toxicity clinics, and will be accountable for independent clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment utilising advanced practice skills within an agreed scope of practice.

      Main duties of the job

      To be an expert practitioner in all aspects of cancer Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) care, enhancing the service and enabling the delivery of a safe high-quality service.

      To provide advanced clinical skills, leadership and knowledge in clinical practice.

      To contribute to leading service delivery, supporting quality improvement and providing safe, effective and specialist care to cancer patients receiving SACT.

      To support innovative ways of working that emphasises a more efficient and patient focused service.

      To be accountable for independent clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment utilising advanced practice skills within an agreed scope of practice. This encompasses a comprehensive assessment of patients receiving SACT, including the management of SACT related toxicities and develop working diagnosis and treatment plans whilst working without direct supervision.

      To be responsible for the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with MDT colleagues.
