- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Valid FL Driver’s License
- Basic Knowledge of and ability to operate general office equipment
- Type 25 WPM accurately
- Receive, route, and disperse phone calls and messages
- Operate NCIC/FCIC computer
- Maintain document files
- Accept bonds and fines in relation to releases and complete appropriate paperwork
- Perform processing and notification of Foreign Nationals
- Coordinate and process release of inmates
- Remove warrant and capias from local system
- Complete court updates to include Nolle-Pros, dismissals, transfers, and sentences
- Ensure the accuracy and validity of court actions
- Reconcile transportation and court lists
- Monitor all cases for the SIGHT program
- Review all cases during sentences update for compliance with F.S 943.01 & 775.3, F.S. 943.325, and F.S. 940.061
- Receive and release inmate funds to authorized persons
- Calculate jail time for each felony docket
- Process all special jail audit requests from courts, Department of Corrections inmates, and attorneys
- Resolve inmate language barriers
- Process fingerprint cards
- Verify inmate identity for intake, transfer, release, fingerprinting, and transporting
- Ensure all updates and releases are delivered promptly for verification and release
- Monitor court notifications related to inmates serving time on weekends
- Input and process arrest paperwork
- Prepare correspondence
- Prepare bond transmittal daily and transport to courthouse with cash and checks
- Prepare various audits
- Generate paperwork for inmate release
- Locate, copy, furnish, info to the public and employees
- Follow up on fugitive from justice paperwork
- Review all arrest documents and paperwork related to First Appearance and Weekend arrests
- Attend First Appearance to assist with judiciary proceedings
- Monitor in state holds
- Send and receive teletype communications
- Inform victim of inmate release
- Update inmate status and court information
- Complete and update forms and logs
- Facilitate all proceeding related to Immigration and Customs
- Serve as a point of contact for Drug Court
- Follow up on Governor Warrants
- Process mail which includes out of county arrest packets
- Report directly to supervisor
- Demonstrates a positive working relationship with personnel in the Agency
- Work under various levels of supervision
- Adhere to laws/agency policy/rules/ regulations/SOP/ procedures
- Maintain confidentiality/security of files and information obtained in the course of employment
- Maintain continuity and operational efficiency by accurate and timely dissemination of information to staff and co-workers
- Provide assistance to citizens, visitors, employees and other public and private entities in an effort to meet their needs and build positive community relationships

- Ability to communicate effectively with Agency employees, various governmental employees, and the public on the phone, in person, and in writing while maintaining confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills: reading, writing and speaking English; listening and hearing.
- While in the office, the position requires the ability to operate a telephone, copier, computer (including keyboarding and mouse) to enter, retrieve, and duplicate information.
- Work under highly stressful conditions in an office environment.
- Work rotating 12 hours shifts and subject to mandatory overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Close proximity to noisy equipment such as electrical steel doors, loud speakers, portable radio, and multiple printers/copiers.
Primary Purpose
The Booking Specialist is responsible for clerical duties related to processing inmates’ intake and release to include, but not limited to, processing and distribution of arrest paperwork, notification of arrest to the appropriate agencies, processing bond and court documents, and other related duties. The Booking Specialist will also act as a liaison and point of contact for the court, State Attorney’s Office, Parole Commission and the Department of Corrections. This position must be able to handle confidential matters without compromising confidentiality.
