- Ensuring animals receive the best quality care including feeding, cleaning, exercising, socializing, enrichment, training, behavior observations and health/welfare monitoring.
- Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal.
- Answering incoming phone calls, emails and in person communications in regards to adoptions and surrenders.
We are looking for a temporary full-time Animal Welfare Specialist. The position will require working some weekend days. Anticipated length of assignment is 3-5 months.
THE POSITION:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Animal Welfare Specialist at our Boston Adoption Center. The vision of the MSPCA Animal Protection Division is to proactively address the underlying issues that put animals at risk. We value our connections to communities and organizations, and serve as a resource to protect the largest number of animals possible. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of this mission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Some job responsibilities include:
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for applicants with at least six months of previous work with animals. Previous animal shelter experience is a plus! Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment and interpersonal skills and are eager to work to support the human-animal bond.
