      The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Bureau of Facilities and Lands, Facilities Operations Section, is currently recruiting to fill a Budget and Policy Analyst vacancy.       This position has potential to be headquartered anywhere in our larger administrative facilities including Madison, Milwaukee, Spooner or Eau Claire dependent upon supervisor approval (other options may be available and can be discussed throughout the recruitment process). The position will periodically require travel throughout the state, including some overnight travel.

      We offer hybrid remote work options! The person hired into this position may request to work up to 60% of their work hours remotely. Employees are generally expected to complete any remote work within the state of Wisconsin. High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change.

      Position Summary

      This position provides Department-wide capital development budgeting and administration services. This position is responsible for the efficient development and implementation of the Department capital budget. The position is also responsible for the management of the Six Year Plan project inventory and resultant biennial capital budget request and implementation of the approved capital budget for all Department programs.

      Geographic Scope and Travel Requirements: This position is statewide. The incumbent is required to travel throughout the state to attend various meetings, provide presentations, participate on teams, and address other issues. Some overnight travel may be periodically required.

      Scope of Authority: This position reports to the Capital Development and Accessibility Supervisor within the Facilities Operations Section.

      Salary Information

      Starting pay for this position is between $37.00 and $41.00 per hour (or $76,960 to $85,280 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. This position is included in the classification Budget and Policy Analyst Agency - Advanced within Pay Schedule/Range 81-03.

      This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

      Qualifications

      You need to have the following training or experience:
      • Experience working with or managing a database system such as software's dealing with project management, project timelines, and user administration.
      • Experience analyzing and/or developing policy.
      • Experience analyzing, tracking, and/or prioritizing budgets.
      Any of the following would be nice to have :
      • Experience working on projects and budget management as it relates to outdoor recreation facilities or infrastructure (Park visitor stations, nature centers, dams, dikes, trails, roads, etc.)
      • Customer service experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders such as property managers, development system users, municipal representatives, etc.
      • Experience working in public sector budgeting.
