- Open Community Center per weekend schedule.
- Serve as Community Center attendant, assist user groups during events and ensure compliance with community center policies and procedures.
- Empty trash containers, replace liners as needed and take all trash to dumpster. Place recyclables in appropriate bins.
- Vacuum, dust mop, or wet mop floors as needed.
- Replace bathroom tissue and paper towels.
- Report maintenance problems to supervisor.
- Ensure all lights are off and all doors locked per weekend schedule.
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Prior work experience in a customer service environment desired.
- Ability to identify and analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions and make sound judgments.
- Knowledge of a variety of custodial equipment and its uses.
- Knowledge of custodial cleaning supplies and their uses.
- Ability to work in an efficient and safe manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
- Ability to maintain adequate attendance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City elected and appointed officials, employees, and the general public.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and groups.

1 Position Summary/Job Duties:
The City of Fitchburg is actively seeking to fill a role as our Building Attendant with our Community Center/Recreation Services Department. Our ideal candidate will be responsible, trustworthy, and able to work independently with little supervision.
About the Position:
Under general direction of the Community Center/Recreation Manager, serves as Community Center Attendant.
Must be available every other week to cover scheduled Community Center building usage. This includes usage during weeknights (Mon-Fri) and weekends (Sat). The weeknight usage of the building varies between the hours of 4:30-9:00 pm. The weekend usage of the building varies between the hours of 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm. The exact schedule and number of hours per pay period will vary depending on the scheduled usage of the Community Center. Position is responsible for opening/closing the facility per weekend usage schedule, assisting user groups during rentals and ensuring compliance with community center policies and procedures. Performs diversified tasks necessary to keep the Community Center clean during facility usage including restroom facilities maintenance, garbage removal and vacuuming. The attendant is responsible for cleanup of rooms used during weeknight building usage. This may include putting away tables/chairs, garbage removal, sweeping, moping & vacuuming. Supervision received is general and overall work plans discussed with periodic review of progress.This position will remain open until filled.
