Job Description
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, the Business Architect supports the development, enhancement, and implementation of business architectures for Canada Post. The Business Architect aids in the development of large-scale business architecture deliverables, supports the development of enterprise architecture process, practices, and tools, and contributes to delivery of enterprise business architecture deliverables such as enterprise business capability models and value chain models in collaboration with the Enterprise Architect and the GM, Enterprise Architecture.
Under the guidance of the Enterprise Architect, the Business Architect manages domain specific business initiatives that guide process and practices, technological assets, and business architecture solutions that align with the Corporation’s overall strategic vision.
As a subject matter expert, the Business Architect utilizes a strong understanding of enterprise architecture concepts, methodologies, frameworks, and practices to make recommendations on how to enable and enhance enterprise architecture self-service and deliver best-practice guidance for Enterprise Architects. The Business Architect supports Enterprise Architecture governance and compliance efforts and identifies areas of improvement, opportunities to enable transparency, and makes recommendations to reduce complexities.
Job Responsibilities
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for Business Architect.
• Develops, maintains, reviews, and tracks enterprise architecture documentation including enterprise architecture guidelines, practices, and processes, capability models, roadmaps, value maps, and architectural artifacts catalogues for use by various members of the Enterprise Architecture team.
• Aids in the development and manages the use of enterprise architecture artifacts that support self-service enterprise architecture for a variety of Corporate stakeholders and business units.
• Conducts trend research, writes reports, and supports the preparation of the annual disruptor report to support Corporate strategic planning and investment exercises.
• Advises and make recommendations on potential risks, opportunities, and investments for business solutions that align with the Corporation’s overall strategic vision and support key stakeholders and business units needs.

• Contributes to the development of business cases by conducting assessments and identifying current or future risks, opportunities, and solution options.
• Collaborates with the Enterprise Architect to conduct gap or needs analyses and gain an understanding of unique technical and business requirements for key stakeholders and business units.
• Supports enterprise architecture governance and compliance efforts including guidance, stewardship, and frameworks. Identifies areas of improvement, opportunities to enable transparency, and makes recommendations to reduce complexities.
• Documents the "as is" and "to be" processes and describes the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to accurately record the change required.
• Contributes to the development and modification of enterprise architecture standards and guidelines. Utilizes a strong understanding of enterprise architecture concepts, methodologies, frameworks, and practices to enhance best-practice guidance for Enterprise Architects.
Qualifications
Education
• Completed Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field is required.
• Completed Master’s level degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field is an asset.
• Completed certifications in TOGAF, ITIL foundations, IT Architecture Certification an asset.Experience
• 3-5 years of relevant functional experience
• Minimum 3 years’ demonstrated experience as a Solution, Business, or Data Architect
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in architecture design or re-design
• Demonstrated experience in progressively advancing roles within IT
• One or more years of experience in a unionized environment an assetOther Candidate Requirements
• Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
• Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships experienced in effectively interacting and communicating with business

• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
