- Proactively develop strong relationships with a designated panel of brokers, taking full ownership for the generation of profitable business.
- Build, manage and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including all key customers and networks to deliver strategy and increase opportunities for the business.
- Develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and ensure that long-term pipeline is realised by ensuring broker / client engagement.
- Understand in its entirety and communicate internally within AXA, the nature of the brokers’ business, the marketplace and the extent and potential of the relationship.
- Plan, forecast and set the operational targets (including the budget and the financial model) to achieve the strategic development plan.
- Review progress of initiatives against plan and take remedial action as appropriate.
- Prospect potential new opportunities and markets. Identify new deals, assess feasibility and project manage the implementation of new deals (including leading contract negotiations.)
- Effectively promote and deploy AXA’s strategy, product range, propositions and key differentiators to leverage commercial opportunities.
- Undertake profit reviews to identify areas for improvement and lead conversations with brokers to agree actions to optimise profitability. Support underwriters with rate actions as necessary.
- ACII qualification or equivalent is preferable.
- Degree level education or equivalent is preferable.
- Good understanding of underwriting & risk management principles.
- Strong product knowledge.
- Mid-market knowledge and generation experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Established networking and relationship building skills.
- Ability to develop reciprocal relationships with intermediaries.
- Awareness of profitability of business within the intermediary channel.
- Technical Insurance or Financial Service background in a consumer-oriented environment is an advantage.
- Annual salary from £45,000 dependent on experience

As Business Development Manager, you’re someone who is passionate about growing profitable relationships with brokers. Within this role you will use your skills and experience to build and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, and be visible in the insurance market.

You'll work at least 60% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
