- Review new matter memos for accuracy and completion.
- Follow up on incomplete or inaccurate new matter memos.
- Analyze engagement letters, scope letters, and waivers.
- Open new matters, assign billing numbers, and tie in all necessary parties.
- Perform general client and matter maintenance.
- Adhere to all firm and department policies and procedures related to opening new matters.
- Assist with keeping all shared documents current and accurate.
- Assist with training and mentoring Jr. Business Intake Specialists as required.
- Other related tasks and duties assigned.
- 3-5 years legal experience, preferably with large law firm Business Intake.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively, under pressure, with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to exercise the appropriate amount of discretion in escalating and communicating issues.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong research, computer, and database skills.
- Ability to effectively train and mentor new Business Intake Specialists.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Illinois – $30.40 - $45.60/hr
- District of Columbia – $33.20 - $49.70/hr
- New York City – $33.20 - $49.70/hr
- New York State – $27.60 - $49.70/hr
- Colorado – $27.60 - $41.40/hr
- California – $33.20 - $49.70 /hr

Description:
We are seeking a Business Intake Specialist to join our team. The Business Intake Specialist will be responsible for using uniform criteria, standards, and procedures to open new matters and assist in the efficient operation of the Business Intake Department. Periodic in-person presence is required for annual or bi-annual weekend team building events. Attendance at in-person quarterly meetings may also be required, depending on a person's location. This position can be based within a reasonable commuting distance of any of our U.S. offices.

This position may be filled in Illinois, District of Columbia, New York, Colorado or California. The base salary ranges for this position are listed below. These ranges may not be applicable to other locations. An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, Holland & Knight provides bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.
