      Overview

      Halifax Health is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer / Report Writer for the Finance Department.

      Summary

      The Business Intelligence Developer / Report Writer is responsible for developing business intelligence reports and analysis utilizing different applications within the Corporate Finance department to meet the needs of the health system. This position also supports and maintains the hospital’s EMR data repository. Please note this position is expected to be onsite.

      Job Qualifications

      • Bachelors Degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a technical or business field; or equivalent work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Eight (8) years of Business Intelligence application development and report writing in a health care environment.
      • Two (2) years experience and demonstrated aptitude in Meditech Report Designer and NPR report development.
      • Extensive experience with hospital EMR systems is required.
      • Experience with development in Information Builder’s WebFOCUS, Athena or other computer-based business intelligence systems.
      • The position will often work independently without close supervision.

      Job Duties and Responsibilities

      • Working knowledge of Health EMRs such as Meditech and Athena and related reporting applications that support them.

      • Working knowledge of Database Management Systems, including both legacy DBMS’s and relational/SQL DBMS’s.

      • Exposure to of SQL extract, transform, and load (ETL) Technology

      • Exposure to Business Intelligence GUI tools or other front-end technology.

      • Lead small to large-size projects, supervising and advising less experienced report developers.

      • Ability to write solid documentation that supports the coding and project management effort.

      • Experience in applying project management principles via formal methodology, using the associated tools and techniques.

      • Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets for creating and interfacing WebFOCUS reports in a self-service environment.

      • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple operating systems and programming languages.

      • Thorough understanding of applicable security standards and the ability to apply them in a large, multi-departmental environment containing a large volume of users.

      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

      • Provide analysis, design and support services using WebFOCUS based on business requirements. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, application maintenance, application development, application deployment, application maintenance, and problem resolution

      • Provide and develop a thorough knowledge of business intelligence reporting applications. Continue to expand and develop skills and, when applicable to business needs, operating systems, database management systems and associated tools.

      • Maintain the Hospital’s EMR data repository

      • Recognize and help exploit business opportunities and pass the appropriate information to management.
