- Oversee daily departmental administrative affairs. Design and development of departmental desktop procedures commensurate with UAB guidelines and policies and monitoring compliance thereof. Provide guidance and advice to department support staff, research personnel, faculty members, and chair. (20%)
- Financial management and budgeting. Collect and analyze data and prepare various special and recurring analyses and reports, including budget forecasting and projections. (30%)
- Grant preparation and administration. Provide guidance/support and advice to faculty and staff to ensure timely submission of grant/contract proposals and budgets adhering to University and Sponsor requirements. (20%)
- Works closely with the department chair on special projects as required (5%)
- Personnel administration (15%)
- Oversight of space and facilities planning and management. (5%)
- Other duties as assigned (5%)

The Department of Health Behavior within the School of Public Health seeks candidates for the position of Business Officer II. This person will serve in the capacity of business manager, relieve department head/large division director or dean of administrative detail with responsibility for financial management/budget, personnel policy administration, space and facilities planning, grants administration, policy interpretation, and enforcement. Conducts special projects, analyzes data, and compiles reports regarding budgets, personnel, and space utilization. Interacts with University administrative units and assures the integrity of department/division/school administrative and financial operations. Manages staff and handles strategic planning. Serves as financial/budget/grants management officer for assigned unit. May interact with administrators and assist with interdepartmental collaborations. May handle compliance-related issues
Key Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
Annual Salary: $60,835 - $98,855
!*!Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
