What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage civil litigation cases from intake through trial and post-judgment, ensuring deadlines are met and case files remain organized
- Draft, edit, and file pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and motions in compliance with California Rules of Court
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests, track deadlines, and coordinate document collection and production
- Conduct factual and legal research using tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis, providing concise summaries for attorney review
- Maintain case calendars, monitor deadlines, and coordinate hearing schedules and filings
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3 years of recent California civil litigation experience, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Bachelor's degree required; Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred but not required
- Strong command of California Code of Civil Procedure and court rules
- Excellent writing, communication, and analytical abilities with exceptional organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research databases
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in estate litigation, elder abuse, or healthcare defense
- Familiarity with case management platforms like Clio or One Legal
- Self-motivated and dependable with the ability to balance multiple priorities independently
- Candidates based in California are strongly preferred for occasional in-person trial support
