What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide expert technical advice on climate change mitigation and adaptation in marine and coastal ecosystems
- Assess climate rationale and risks for marine/coastal funding proposals
- Evaluate the mitigation potential of ocean-based activities and carbon stock assessments
- Support the appraisal of Concept Notes, Funding Proposals, and provide structured assessments
- Contribute to marine-sector guidance and deliver written recommendations for proposal strengthening
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Master’s or PhD in marine ecology, oceanography, coastal engineering, climate science, or related fields
- 10–15 years of experience in marine/climate project design, implementation, or assessment
- Strong familiarity with blue carbon, coastal adaptation, and ecosystem services valuation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in other UN languages is an advantage
- Experience with international climate finance
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with monitoring and reporting (MRV) for marine and coastal projects
- Demonstrated ability to work in diverse cultural and geographic contexts
- Proven track record of engaging with Accredited Entities and National Designated Authorities (NDAs)
