- Organize materials for the evening's events.
- Lead programming and interpret information to the public.
- Familiarize yourself with your assigned group each evening.
- Facilitate an educational program during the entire campout.
- Stay overnight and assist with basic facility maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with your group, supervisors, and overnight security.
- Assist with registration and scheduling for campout programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- English required but proficient in Spanish is a plus.
- Available for 3 weekend nights per month.
- High School Graduate or GED required. Background in biology, environmental science, wildlife education, or related fields highly preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in group settings.
- Flexible and adaptable to different circumstances.
- Must pass a drug screen and background check.
- Ability to travel long distances across the zoo.
- This position performs the aspects of its requirements in an outdoors environment. There are frequent occasions where this position will be exposed to the elements.
- Comfortable with inclement weather conditions.
- Physical requirements may require the employee to remain in stationary positions for extended periods during the shift. Employees may also be asked to reach above one's head and below one's feet.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds using safe lifting methods.

Summary:
Join the Team as a Campout Leader at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium! Are you passionate about wildlife education and conservation? Do you enjoy working with people of all ages? We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Safari Guides/Campout Leaders for our Sleeping Bag Safari Overnight Education program. As a Campout Leader, you will have the opportunity to facilitate overnight conservation education programming that takes place year-round.
