What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Abstract specific patient information from various resources, including medical records
- Code information into a database according to prescribed protocols
- Maintain and edit data for accuracy and completeness
- Manage record-keeping systems and procedures for clinical studies
- Report to the Supervisor of Cancer Registry and assist in maintaining compliance with standards
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred
- Completion of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology courses required
- Two (2) years of experience as a Cancer Registrar is preferred
- CTR certification or CTR eligibility required
- Knowledge of clinical trials is required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of standards for Commission on Cancer (CoC) and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) preferred
- CTR certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire or transfer into position
