What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct legislative and policy analysis to support Washington's Cap-and-Invest Program
- Develop and evaluate legislative proposals and regulatory measures for greenhouse gas emission reduction
- Collaborate with various stakeholders including Tribal governments and environmental organizations
- Draft legislative materials such as bill analyses, fiscal notes, and reports for agency management
- Utilize project management skills to ensure timely completion of legislative and policy initiatives
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Nine years of experience and/or education in relevant fields such as environmental science, public policy, or economics
- Minimum of one year of legislative experience in Washington or at the federal level
- Experience in environmental or natural resource planning, public administration, or related areas
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret state laws and regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in legal, statutory, and regulatory analysis related to greenhouse gas reduction
- Knowledge of greenhouse gas emissions trading systems and cap-and-trade programs
- Background in addressing climate change policies and initiatives
