      BASIC FUNCTION: The Work and Learn Center is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual who is passionate about career readiness. The ideal candidate will provide young adult learners ages 16-24 with appropriate learning activities and experiences in an engaging atmosphere designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and social growth. The idea candidate will enable students to develop competencies and basic skills to function successfully in career fields. This person will work with the community, employers, and students to find meaningful internships and employment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in social work, career counseling or education (highly preferred) and or a minimum of 2 years of similar experience. Strongly prefer 2 years of experience working with young adults and youth culture. Proficiency in social media platforms for program outreach and marketing. Exceptional interpersonal skills Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly desired General knowledge of communication outreach, curriculum, and instruction. Ability to instruct and connect with students and positively influence their behavior. Ability to build and grow an employer network system. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to contextualize curricula to align with workforce readiness, social media management and digital literacy skills. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Facilitate Career Readiness curriculum covering communication, resumes, cover letters, interviewing skills, and networking in an 8-week training program. Oversees case management of students and facilitate employment, internship, and education outcomes. Conducts regular Individual Action Plan meetings with all students and engages in appropriate helping skills. Assist students in developing resumes and conducting mock interviews. Perform career advising and coaching for students to help them gain employment or internships. Provide constructive feedback to students to better prepare them for workforce readiness. Coordinate with partners, recruiters, and key stakeholders to place participants in employment opportunities and internships/externships. Maintains student and program data and provides regular reports to leadership. Connect students to needed resources outside of career advising including basic needs, mental health support, educational programs, and financial aid. Collaborate with hard-skill instructor(s) to manage program schedule and student retention. Execute program outreach activities through social media and networking with community service providers. Support the planning and coordination of outreach and networking events. Implements day-to-day business and administrative activities for the program. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Previous experience in career advising and employer outreach. Experience working with opportunity youth or diverse underserved populations. Ability to coordinate with professionals from diverse backgrounds working to support student career and educational goals. Excellent oral and written language skills, presentation, and public relations skills. Skilled at providing up-to-date labor market and career development information Must be able to behave in a considerate manner with others regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or beliefs. Excellent organizational and time management skills to maintain accurate data and reporting records. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint Familiarity with Google Classroom and various online learning tools PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and information for effective classroom presentation. Ability to actively engage students in the learning process. Ability to effectively resolve student concerns and manage the classroom in a positive, constructive way. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Frequent speaking and listening, reading, writing, and using computers.
