      Summary:

      The Career Services Associate ensures that students and graduates are supported through various tasks and activities to achieve externship placement and post-graduation employment.

      The Career Services Associate has five essential job functions: Employment support, Externship placement, Certification Track, and Career Services Skill Development. The Career Service Associate will build relationships and communicate with employers and students. They work with students before graduation to prepare them for the practical application of their skills and entering the job market. Our activity-based management system sets relationship-building and metric goals for every Career Services function to achieve employment start outcomes.

      The Career Services Associate works primarily with students interested in one of San Joaquin Valley College’s core or linear programs. These programs typically start every 5 to 16 weeks and can include onsite, blended, and fully online certificate and degree programs and degree completion programs.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Conducts employer and job development sales activities such as outbound calls and site visits.
      • Meets and exceeds daily, weekly, and activity goals to achieve employment start goals.
      • Maintain relationships with students and graduates to ensure appropriate interaction with employers.
      • Contact potential sites for developing new student externships to hire opportunities.
      • Coordinates and supervises the externship process and provides midterm reviews to increase extern to-hire opportunities.
      • Supports the monitoring of attendance and performance of the student on externship
      • Monitors graduates as they complete licensure to maintain connections and provide support to gain employment.
      • Provides support to help students prepare resumes, employment search strategies, and interview techniques.
      • Partners with students in job search strategies and coaching that leads to employability.
      • Conducts career skill workshops on a variety of career topics like resume writing, interviewing, professionalism and externship
      • Attend business functions, trade shows, and professional organizations’ meetings for networking and employer development.
      • Adheres to all compliance and performance standards as it relates to employment start confirmations, metric activities, and student interaction documentation
      • Maintains timely and accurate documentation of physical and electronic records.
      • Supports campus goals and initiatives by supporting activities, events, and graduation ceremonies.
      • Engages with the entire College Campus community, cross-departmental meetings, events and activities as appropriate.
      • Completes other duties as assigned.
      • The work location for this position is remote.

      Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

      Education and/or Experience

      A minimum of a Bachelor degree preferred, Associate Degree required. Must possess a minimum of 3 years of job development, career services, outbound sales or agency recruiting experience. Must have superior organizational, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal,

      written, and oral communication skills are required. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
