      Position Title: Career Technical Education Coordinator

      Department: Aiken County Career and Technology Center

      Reports To: Executive Director of Career and Technical Education

      FLSA Status: Exempt

      SUMMARY:

      The Career and Technical Education Coordinator oversees PowerSchool data management through coding, reporting, and auditing to ensure accurate College and Career Readiness (CCR) reporting. This role includes collaborating with the Work-Based Learning (WBL) coordinator, CTE teachers, CTE program specialists, and supporting career specialists through professional development, training, and record-keeping. The coordinator supervises career specialists, ensures CTE program quality and alignment with industry standards, and serves as the district liaison for dual enrollment CTE classes with local post-secondary institutions, building pathways for a smooth transition from high school to college.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Manages data, reporting, tracking, and auditing Career Ready Data.
      • Manages the coding and input processes for PowerSchool reporting while assisting with coding audits
      • Works closely with the Director of School Counseling and in conjunction with Career Specialists
      • Supervises Career Specialists at middle and high schools
      • Supports Career Specialists in professional development training and data management
      • Compiles data for the Career Specialist Accountability Report to submit to the State Department of Education each January and June
      • Works closely with the Work-based Learning Coordinator in developing WBL opportunities in grades 9 through 12
      • Attends training, conferences, and workshops as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills and engages in professional development opportunities
      • Conducts biannual teacher observations to assess performance, identify areas for growth, and provide actionable feedback to support professional development and enhance instructional practices.
      • Evaluates career assessments and inventories for individuals and classes.
      • Serves as the coordinator for administering the district career interest survey (Youscience) and reviewing IGP data to ensure the appropriate high quality programs are being offered
      • Develops and presents career-related events and instruction for students and staff.
      • Compiles data and prepares various administrative and statistical reports required by the school, district, and State Department of Education.
      • Researches and interprets labor market data for use in career counseling and reporting.
      • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, and complaints in areas of responsibility.
      • Prepares and/or processes program materials, financial records, and various other reports, records, memos, correspondence, etc.
      • Communicates and interacts with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, principal, assistant principal, school faculty and staff, other district administrators and staff, students, parents, guardians, community or business representatives, college admissions representatives, and the public.
      • Assists with a process for implementing new tiered CTE credentialing
      • Aligns all pathways and work closely with Aiken Technical College for dual enrollment options
      • Assist CTE teachers with coordinating college admission representative visits with students.
      • Assists in preparing for special meetings, activities, professional development, and events as requested.
      • Performs routine administrative and office tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, entering and retrieving computer data, ordering supplies, etc.
      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      JOB SPECIFICATIONS

      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

      Master’s degree in education or school counseling from an accredited school. At least 3 years of teaching experience in a CTE course

      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

      CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

      A valid teaching certificate from the SC Board of Education

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

      LANGUAGE SKILLS:

      Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and instructional manuals. Ability to design and write professional development plans, reports and data entry procedures. Ability to effectively present professional development and training and respond to questions from groups of educators, trainees, media, administrators and organization members.

      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

      REASONING ABILITY:

      Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.

      OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

      Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

      Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to work alone. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees. Ability to implement a flexible work schedule to meet the reporting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision. Some driving required. Duties of the job require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

      12 months

      Level 124 Pay Scale

      The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

      Performance of this job evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
