      SUMMARY

      This is a Junior role, targeting those who are beginning their professional journey, or those who are targeting a transition to a corporate role.

      As a Catalog Specialist you should have a passion for the automotive aftermarket. You will have the tenacity and capability to learn the Auto Care Association (previously AAIA) standard databases, ACES, and PIES. You will have a strong drive to create an excellent customer experience. You should have the ability to become a subject matter expert for handling at least one of the following automotive catalog functions – fitment, interchange, or discrepancies.

      In this role you are responsible for understanding and supporting the elements that form Advance Auto Parts’ (AAP) catalog data, our data production strategy, and our current goal to become the leading cataloging organization in the automotive aftermarket. The Catalog Specialist role is responsible for data processing, data shaping, and identifying opportunities for the company’s production catalogs. Other general responsibilities include, but are not limited to, justifying changes to data structure and data processing, facilitating communication and issue resolution for internal and external customers, and aiding in continuous improvement activities. This position supports strategic projects as assigned.

      In this position you must build strong cross-functional and collaborative relationships with internal and external business partners to fully understand their strategies and needs, so that you can implement the most impactful processes and decisions. You will need these partnerships to ensure smooth execution and success of key company initiatives, and to make sure we are meeting business needs in the most efficient and responsible way. To do this effectively you must be able to prove to others that action is needed and then persuade them of the best course of action.

      As a Catalog Specialist, you will be assigned to one of these Catalog Functional Focuses: Fitment, Interchange, and Data Load.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      While other duties may be assigned, the ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

      Performance and Accountability

      • Ensure that you clearly understand the goals and expectations established for your position and assigned function.
      • Perform tasks as expected for your assigned function.

      • Manage assignments and timelines to balance data throughput with data quality requirements.

      Communication

      • Ensure expectations from others align with your ownership and expected performance.
      • Coordinate and organize special projects as required
      • Can create and conduct presentations, manuals, standards, and special correspondence for customer relations.
      • Develops communication tools to ensure a high level of awareness of policies, plans, procedures, and study/project results.
      • Promotes customer satisfaction. Reviews all comments, questions, complaints, and compliments received from customers and coordinates follow up action with applicable manager
      • Provides reports and analysis to management and relevant stake holders as needed.

      Documentation

      • Update existing project and workflow documentation, clearly identifying ownership and task assignment between individual contributors and/or other teams.
      • Formulates proposals for system and data updates by analyzing existing systems and procedures, defining recommended technical and procedural improvements.
      • Responsible for defining and performing systems analysis, process analysis, and development requirements to improve workflow and operating efficiency.
      • Participates in the modification of existing applications and development of new applications by drafting requirements, testing, and verifying expected functionality of the applications.
      • Ensures all documentation and requests comply with established policies and procedures. Maintains applicable systems to monitor and track projects, plans and/or data;

      Mentorship

      • Find opportunities for knowledge and skill development to improve individual strengths and to help others fully understand best practices.
      • Accept guidance and support from other team members, working to master Auto Care and Functional Focus knowledge.
      • Seeks networking opportunities to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

      SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES-Team Leadership

      QUALIFICATIONS

      EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

      • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience in the automotive aftermarket

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Excellent interpersonal skills.
      • Proficient in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask/prioritize based on urgency.
      • Decisive and strong attention to detail.
      • Knowledge of automotive aftermarket ACES and PIES standards preferred

      Knowledge of database systems (such as MSSQL) and SQL preferred
