What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Respond to deployment directives and travel to catastrophe areas to evaluate, negotiate, and settle personal and commercial lines property claims
- Conduct physical inspections of property claims, evaluate damages, and prepare written estimates according to policy provisions
- Initiate first contact with insureds and relevant parties to gather information, obtain recorded statements, and explain the claims process
- Assist with claims office workload when not deployed to catastrophe duty
- Maintain on-call availability with the potential for extended travel
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education, and training
- Must maintain a valid driver's license with the ability to drive an automobile
- Part 107 drone license required for roof inspections, to be obtained within 5 months of start date
- Physical dexterity to walk, reach, climb, and crawl to inspect damage, including the ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds
- Must reside in the territory which includes Joliet, Illinois, and surrounding areas
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in catastrophe claims handling or a related field
- Familiarity with insurance policy provisions and claims processes
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and unfavorable working environments
- Knowledge of local building codes and property inspection standards
