      The Category Analyst is a member of the Fresh Thyme Merchandising department and is responsible for gathering data to drive departmental decisions. This role will monitor inventory, sales, patterns, trends and profits to optimize the business performance by presenting and documenting data and sharing with the Category Manager.

      Position follows hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.

      Essential Duties & Responsibilities

      • Provides support to the departmental Category Managers.
      • Provide customer service to all store locations regarding questions, issues and concerns within the merchandise departments being supported, ordering and deliveries.
      • Responsible for learning, using, and maintaining internal wholesale / retail software systems.
      • Works with the team to monitor and track pricing, promotions, purchasing, costs, inventory levels and logistics
      • Responsible for all billing’s promotions, free fill, and all on-going discounts from start to finish.
      • Work with Category Managers to build and maintain schematics.
      • Prepares and presents comprehensive evaluation of data as requested and develops clear and concise communication to identify opportunities.
      • Monitors performance of eCommerce sites and troubleshoots issues.
      • Monitors daily, weekly and monthly performance specific to each store and compiles analysis for total company comparisons using internal software programs.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports company standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions and confidentiality standards.
      • Helps to creates pricing, promotion, assortment and shelf schematics for each assigned category, based on detailed analysis of past performance, results, industry best practices, and consumer trends.
      • Helps with correlation of data with vendors on pricing, product assortment, promotion, ads, services, promotional calendars, and support; acts as primary contact with vendors in assigned categories.
      • Maintains and reviews price files and competitive price checks to ensure we are priced competitively within each market we operate.
      • Works in conjunction with operations and other departments across the company to facilitate implementation of programs.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Education and Experience

      • B.S./B.A. degree in a business or accounting and/or equivalent work experience
      • Preferred grocery retail experience

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      • Knowledge of financial acumen specific to profit & loss statements and analysis.
      • Ability to adapt to the ever-changing retail environment while working in a cross-functional team environment.
      • Must have the ability to take initiative when problems arise.
      • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a variety of situations.
      • Must have advanced attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
      • Advanced written communication and documentation skills.
      • Advanced verbal communication and interpersonal skills for dealing cross functionally with peers and senior management.
      • Must have expert knowledge with MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
      • Ability to multitask is essential.
      • This candidate must be well-organized, a team player and can multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
