What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review medical records within 24-48 hours of patient admission to ensure accurate documentation and MS-DRG assignment
- Conduct follow-up reviews of patient records to support assigned working MS-DRG upon discharge
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve documentation queries and improve clinical documentation
- Participate in provider education and communication regarding documentation guidelines
- Stay updated on coding guidelines and participate in mandatory training sessions
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Active state Registered Nurse license or graduate MD/FMD license
- Zero to two years of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) experience
- Two or more years of nursing experience in Medical/Surgical/Intensive Care or Case/Utilization Review
- Graduate from a Nursing program, BSN, or medical degree program
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDIP) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCDS)
- Previous experience in acute care nursing or relevant provider roles
- Strong knowledge of disease pathophysiology and drug utilization
- Familiarity with coding compliance and regulatory standards
- Proven ability to work independently in both on-site and virtual settings
