What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Monitor CDI staff accuracy, data quality, and integrity
- Audit clinical documentation specialists retrospectively to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Collaborate with the CDI Manager to implement ongoing education and feedback for CDI specialists
- Review and analyze denial claims to support denial prevention strategies
- Provide timely feedback on performance improvement plans for CDI staff
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health information management, or related field
- At least five years of experience in clinical documentation
- Licensed RN
- Advanced knowledge of clinical documentation integrity practices and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master’s degree
- CCDS or CDIP certification
- Experience with 3M Encoder/Grouper and SMART software
- Familiarity with Medicare reimbursement systems and coding structures
- Demonstrated success in interacting effectively with physicians
