Job Description

- You will provide leadership to the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) team to direct formulation, coordination, and delivery of the waterfront capital development program.
- You will coordinate with other Port departments and NWSA to manage interrelationships between individual projects and overall program objectives, specifications, and priorities.
- You will integrate the total cost of ownership concepts into overall development of CIP and stewardship of assets.
- You will coordinate closely with the Business Units including Chief Operating Officer, Marine Maintenance Director, Cruise Business, NWSA Leaders and Real Estate Development Director to ensure waterfront assets support and meet the needs of all business unit operations.
- You will provide input and decisions on division management collectively with Maritime Directors and other key Port leaders to ensure efficiency, continuity, and consistency of capital projects as well as alignment with strategies.
- You will coordinate with the operational and business line staff to ensure operability of facilities after project commissioning.
- You will build strong working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to build customer engagement and trust and improve collaboration and coordination.
- You will serve as the main point of contact for the NWSA and the Port’s Maritime Division for Capital Programs.
- You will provide overall leadership direction, decision set-up, and ratification for the Investment Committee that spans division departments to make decisions whether to fund capital projects and initiatives.
- You will create and oversee the department budget and lead team members to implement effective cost management tracking mechanisms to be fiscally responsible.
- You will partner with Maritime Directors and Finance and Budget staff to develop annual business plans that support achievement of maritime strategies and objects.
- You will lead, manage, and mentor direct reports on career development to ensure employee engagement and professional development.
- You will identify training and development needs, define tasks and functions, monitor workload and assignments, and provide regular performance feedback to direct reports.
- Experienced – You have nine (9) years of experience in program and project management including leadership of major and complex capital programs. You also have four (4) years of experience supervising staff.
- Desired – We hope you have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. We hope you have any of the following licenses/certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) License, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, and/or Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certification.

As the Chief Development Officer – Maritime, you will oversee and guide the Port of Seattle’s Waterfront Capital Development program, which includes Waterfront Assets for the Maritime Division and Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA). You will effectively steward major capital development and provide financial strategy, total cost of ownership, risk management, and consistency with Maritime Division strategic priorities.
