Job Description

- Provides advice and counsel to RX Director and entire directorate on systems engineering and program management (SEPM) and other engineering matters.
- Develops, improves, and defines scope and rigor of tailored SEPM processes, policies, practices, tools, and training and implements them across RX's portfolio and workforce to ensure successful program execution.
- Establishes & maintains working partnerships in RX, across AFRL, and with Air Force, DoD, industry, and academia personnel from the acquisition & sustainment enterprise to ensure technology development efforts are informed by proper requirements and to maximize technology transition success.
- Measures SEPM application and effectiveness within RX.
- Ensures broad implementation of best practices and compliance with AFRL and HHQ SEPM policies.
- Mentors, guides, and coaches RX engineers and scientists on SEPM matters.
- Tailors and applies Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS and E), airworthiness, risk management, and mission assurance principles.
- US Citizenship
- Possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree, in a relevant technical field, from an accredited (or ABET accredited for engineering) academic institution.
- Special Sensitive Position designation (Top Secret-SCI), must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- This position has been designated as a critical acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). This position requires a 3-year tenure agreement and Tier 2 (Practitioner) certification in the Engineering & Technical Management (ETM) functional stall. Selectee will have 60 months to meet the APDP certification requirements of the position. Applicant must list all completed acquisition certifications on resume.
- Selectee is required to submit annual Confidential Financial Disclosure (OGE Form 450)
- Examples of specialized experience includes providing direction, advice, and counsel on materials engineering, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, and/or program management matters.
- Possess an advanced degree in a relevant technical field, from an accredited (or ABET accredited for engineering) academic institution.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the operations of DoD research and development (R&D) environment, spanning knowledge of in-house research, contracting and management of external R&D programs, and transition of technology.
