      Job summary

      Velindre University NHS Trust is seeking an exceptional leader as our new Chief Executive. As a specialist Trust, the organisation is responsible for the delivery of tertiary cancer services to the population of South-East Wales and for the Welsh Blood Service which operates across the whole of Wales. The Trust is a hosting body to two national NHS services in Wales, the NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership and Health Technology Wales.

      As Chief Executive you will be a strategic thinker with commercial acumen and political awareness, gained at Board level in a complex organisation, who can demonstrate excellent leadership and add value to our Board whilst contributing to our ambitious transformation agenda. Your leadership will enable the Trust to achieve continuous clinical excellence, outstanding patient and donor care and financial sustainability. You will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and have a track record of partnership working and delivering through strong engagement to develop and deliver a shared vision.

      Main duties of the job

      The Chief Executive will be the Accountable Officer for Velindre University NHS Trust with full responsibility for the continued development and management of the Trust. The Chief Executive provides senior leadership, vision, strategic direction and management across all aspects of the Trust's activities and will ensure that all required decision making, control, delivery and development systems are in place. The Chief Executive is accountable for providing advice to the Board on all elements of Velindre University NHS Trust business and specifically on matters, relating to probity, regularity and administration.

      The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
