      JOB SUMMARY

      The mandate of Children’s Services, Fee Subsidy Unit is to provide supports and child care and early years navigations to families and residents through four Employment and Social Services sites.

      As part of the Fee Subsidy unit, you are responsible for the management of client child care subsidy cases at various stages of service delivery by collecting information and assessing the financial, social and personal needs of applicants; determining initial eligibility and monitoring on-going eligibility for child care subsidy; providing information on program criteria and required documentation; and making referrals to internal and external resources with some crisis intervention. The work requires the use of various provincial and regional applications such as Social Assistance Management System (SAMS), Ontario Child Care Management System (OCCMS) and the Child Care Registry and Waitlist (CCRAW). You liaise with a variety of professionals and agencies to support service delivery to clients.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

      Completion of 2 year community college diploma in a human services curriculum

      Minimum of 12 months of experience in social services programs

      • Applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, policy, procedures and programs
      • Special needs/requirements of child care subsidy clients and other Social Services clients
      • Programs and services for child care subsidy clients and other Social Services clients
      • Assessment and interviewing techniques
      • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

      WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

      • Language Requirement:Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
      • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Note: Under the age of 18, requires a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check in place of the Vulnerable Sector Check.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
      • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.; Additional vacancies may occur during the competition process
