      Department Overview:

      Anticipated Hours Per Week

      4 to 5

      Schedule:

      MOST IMPORTANT Sundays starting at 8:30am

      • During the school year, beginning Sunday Sept. 14, hours are 8:30am-12:15pm.
      • During the summer months (Memorial Day - Labor Day) the hours are 8:30-11:30am.
      • Note for University Students: We understand students may have limited or no availability during the Summer term and can discuss flexible scheduling accommodations.

      Other Opportunities for Additional Hours:

      • Wednesday evenings from 4:30-7:30pm during church seasons of Advent (3-4 Wednesdays before Christmas) and Lent (6 Wednesdays before Easter)

      • Occasional additional opportunities for special events like Sunday evening Family Ministry Dinner, Vacation Bible School, etc.

      Salary/Wage Range:

      Hourly $19.00 to $19.00

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

      At Christ Presbyterian Church, we deeply cherish our children and our Childcare Providers who play a vital and appreciated role in our community. Our Childcare Providers establish an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for our children as well as delight in building connections with children and families, witnessing their growth and development over time.

      Job Responsibilities: Cares for children ages infant to early elementary

      On Sunday mornings:

      • Childcare Providers are generally expected to work most Sunday mornings.
        • During the school year, beginning Sunday Sept. 14, hours are 8:30am-12:15pm.
        • During the summer months (May 25 - Sept. 7) the hours are 8:30-11:30am.
        • Note for University Students: We understand students may have limited or no availability during the Summer term and can discuss flexible scheduling accommodations.
      • Provide safe childcare for babies, toddlers, preschool-aged and early elementary-aged children
      • Provide a simple playful structure for children including but not limited to open play time, story time with provided books, etc.
      • Connect with families as they drop off/pick up children and ensure a safe and easy transition during drop off/pick up
      • Oversees and maintains regular cleaning and sanitizing including toys, play areas, etc in accordance with Christ Presbyterian Church Policy.
      • Assist Family Ministry Staff with tasks related to Family Ministry (ie organization/preparation of materials, photocopying, etc.)

      Qualifications:

      • Age 18 or older
      • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
      • Experience with childcare and family communication
      • Understanding of the importance of and how to implement play-based learning
      • Previous experience with an open and affirming church childcare context preferred
      • Background check required
      • Professional and personal references

      Physical Demands

      Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
